Oracle NetSuite ERP Implementation for Unioteq Commercial Services
How SDLC Corp helped an industrial automation company connect project costing, procurement, inventory, and finance in one ERP system. Month-end close fell from 12 days to 5, and inventory accuracy rose from 78% to 94%.

About Unioteq Industrial Automation Solutions
Unioteq Commercial Services Private Limited delivers industrial automation solutions, including PLC programming, custom software, laser marking, barcode systems, and bidirectional traceability. It also supports manufacturing data collection, real-time analysis, and integration with Oracle, SAP, SQL, and Excel.
Project Data Lived in Disconnected Tools
Each Unioteq automation installation had its own BOM, purchasing cycle, engineering effort, inventory requirements, and commissioning schedule. But teams were managing much of that information separately.
The company identified five priorities for the ERP implementation:
Project-Level Costing
Unioteq needed to understand the actual profitability of individual automation projects. Waiting until the year-end review to see the financial picture was too late.
Better Inventory Visibility
Components and spares had to be tracked more accurately across stores and customer sites. Otherwise, shortages would surface unexpectedly during commissioning.
Project-Linked Procurement
Purchases of PLCs, sensors, laser modules, imported components, and other project materials needed to stay connected to the job they were ordered for.
Faster Finance Processes
The company wanted GST-compliant invoicing, less reconciliation work, and a shorter month-end close.
Less Manual Reporting
Finance, stores, purchasing, and engineering were spending valuable time on reports and status checks. Reconciling information and answering internal queries took more of it.
Unioteq needed one system for its project and financial data. Replacing spreadsheets alone would not have been enough. Our ERP consulting and system integration team helps companies define that scope before configuration begins.
Oracle NetSuite Configured Around Unioteq's Project Workflow
SDLC Corp began with discovery sessions across finance, stores, purchasing, and engineering.
Before any ERP configuration began, the team mapped how an automation project moved through five workflow stages:
- Enquiry
- Procurement
- Fabrication
- Dispatch
- On-site commissioning
That work exposed process gaps that were difficult to see when each department managed its own records.
One important example was the difference between material issued to a customer site and material actually consumed by a project. That distinction directly affects inventory accuracy and project costing.
SDLC Corp then implemented Oracle NetSuite as the core ERP and built the business-specific pieces needed to support Unioteq's operating model.
Our ERP implementation services cover Oracle NetSuite and other platforms. The scope runs from implementation and migration to integration, testing, and post-launch support.
How the Team Handled Materials and Risk
Two parts of the project shaped the results more than any others. One was a costing gap found in discovery. The other was a data problem found mid-project.
Issued Material vs Consumed Material
Materials issued to a site may be returned unused, kept as spares, or transferred to another job. Recording all issued items as consumed inflates project costing, understates margins, and makes stores records inaccurate, potentially causing duplicate orders.
NetSuite separates issuance from consumption: stores track materials sent to the site, while projects record only what was actually used.
Handling the Legacy Data Delay
Inconsistent legacy item and vendor data required cleanup before migration to NetSuite, delaying one project phase by about a week.
SDLC Corp identified the risk early, helped Unioteq clean the records, revised the schedule, and communicated the impact before it threatened the deadline—demonstrating the proactive risk management praised by the client.
What the ERP Implementation Addressed
Each area below answers one of the five priorities. The cards show what changed in daily work once inventory, procurement, finance, and reporting ran in one NetSuite environment.
- Profitability
Project Cost and Profitability Visibility
Project, purchasing, inventory, and finance data now sit closer together. Management sees job economics soon after completion instead of at year end.
- Inventory
Inventory and Material Control
Better visibility into components and spares, tied to individual projects, made commissioning-stage shortages a rare occurrence.
- Procurement
Procurement Connected to Project Demand
Purchases of PLCs, sensors, laser modules, and imported components stay linked to the job that drives the demand.
- Finance
Finance and Month-End Closing
More reliable transactional data and less manual reconciliation shortened the close.
- Visibility
Self-Service Operational Visibility
Stock and project-status questions no longer route through the stores team, which removes unnecessary handoffs.
What Changed After the Oracle NetSuite Implementation
Unioteq reported these before-and-after figures once the system was in daily use.
| Performance Metric | Before Implementation | After Implementation |
|---|---|---|
| Month-end close | ~12 days | 5 days |
| Inventory accuracy | ~78% | 94% |
| PO approval cycle | 3-4 days | Under 8 hours |
| Project profitability visibility | Year-end review | Within ~1 week of project completion |
| Manual reporting/reconciliation | Recurring weekly effort | 18-20 hours/week eliminated |
| Commissioning-stage shortages | Regular occurrence | Rare occurrence |

Why a Workflow-First NetSuite ERP Implementation Worked
A standard ERP rollout can technically succeed while creating new workarounds for users.
Unioteq saw a different outcome. The client noted that the custom pieces were built around its actual working process rather than forcing the organization into a standard template.
That mattered because Unioteq is not managing repetitive retail transactions. Its teams deliver project-based engineering and industrial automation work. On every job, materials, purchasing, engineering effort, dispatch, and commissioning need to remain connected.
NetSuite provided the ERP foundation, and workflow-specific configuration fitted it to the business. Together they gave those teams a common operational view. The project structure their business depends on stayed intact.
