02 / THE PROJECT

The challenge: regional flexibility within a consistent website structure

A multi-region nonprofit website serves several audiences. Visitors may want to understand the organization’s work, explore a campaign, review its impact, participate in advocacy or find a suitable way to give.

Regional teams also need different pages and content priorities. The US website, for example, includes specific giving pathways and state fundraising information that are not identical to requirements elsewhere.

The project scope balances these regional differences with shared publishing components. It connects page structure, editorial templates and responsive presentation across the network.

03 / THE PROJECT

Building on an existing WordPress foundation

The technical approach uses WordPress multisite, the Gutenberg editor and a block-theme structure. Custom components are supported by Advanced Custom Fields Pro.

The website already had a library of blocks. SDLC Corp’s role includes adding and refining the components needed for the agreed pages.

The custom software development work covers reusable components and the needs of individual pages.

04 / THE PROJECT

Organizing regional information

The planned regional pages bring together information about the organization, its programs, leadership, values and public reports.

These pages provide context for the organization’s campaigns and supporter journeys. Visitors can move from understanding the issue to exploring the work, reviewing impact or choosing how to participate.

The agreed page lists vary by region. Migration planning also considers existing content beyond those lists.

05 / THE PROJECT

Reusable campaign and editorial templates

Campaign publishing involves recurring formats with different content needs.

The scope includes templates for pledges, investigations, advocacy and petitions, alongside blog and press content. Reusable components provide a common foundation for these formats while allowing their content to vary.

The website work also accounts for regional sections covering the organization’s approach, initiatives and activities.

06 / THE PROJECT

Connecting visitors with action pathways

The regional page requirements include ways for visitors to lend their voice, join the movement and explore plant-based choices.

These action pages connect public information with participation opportunities. Their structure needs to make the purpose of each action clear and provide an understandable next step.

The engagement brings these pathways into the broader regional website experience, alongside campaigns, organizational information and impact content.

07 / THE PROJECT

Supporting different ways to give

The US scope includes monthly giving, workplace giving, donor-advised funds, legacy giving and Compassion Collective content.

Donation-modal implementation is also included, connecting website presentation with existing giving forms and services.

Donation modals connect visitors to existing giving services. Available giving options vary by region.

08 / THE PROJECT

Migrating content with shared responsibilities

Existing content and blogs form an important part of the migration scope.

Some pages are intended to move without being rebuilt using the new blocks. Others require technical adjustments to work with the updated templates or WordPress environment.

SDLC Corp and the client’s development team share migration responsibilities, with each team handling its agreed part of the work.

Migration planning also accounts for pages that cannot move directly and require an appropriate redirect destination.

09 / THE PROJECT

Updating blog and press templates

The scope includes migrating existing blogs to the new blog template across regions, with technical adjustments where required.

Blog and press templates support ongoing editorial publishing. They connect recurring content formats with the wider regional website structure and provide a foundation for future updates.

The global page requirements also include reuse of selected regional blog, press and contact content.

10 / THE PROJECT

Responsive layouts across devices

Responsive implementation covers the specified pages, including mobile viewports.

The project uses design references for different screen sizes, addressing how content, navigation, campaign components and giving pathways adapt across desktop, tablet and mobile.

The objective is a coherent presentation across devices while retaining the information and actions required by each page.

11 / THE PROJECT

Forms and connected services

The technical approach includes embedded forms for specified regional websites and Contact Form 7 in particular cases.

The software integration work connects existing forms and services with the regional pages.

Existing job listings remain part of the website environment.

12 / THE PROJECT

Regional policy and disclosure pages

The page scope includes privacy information and regional commitment pages. US requirements also include state fundraising disclosures.

These pages provide designated locations for information supplied or approved by the organization.

SDLC Corp’s role covers page implementation and presentation; the organization reviews and approves the legal content.

13 / THE PROJECT

Development and release workflow

The development approach includes local environments, staging review, version control and GitHub Actions.

Feature branches and pull requests support changes to the website components, with review and testing before release.

Review and testing are part of the planned release process for regional pages, components and migration changes.
